Contemporary absinthe grille that looks more baroque than Baroque

July 20, 2011 , , , , , , , , , ,

Kirk Burkett absinthe grille

This is a true masterwork of an absinthe grille! It is made by renowned silver artist Kirk Burkett from Austinville, VA. The name of the handmade piece is “Green Man in Foliage”. The centerpiece is the head of a faun, a mythological creature that traditionally is depicted as half man and half goat and symbolizes forest. The faun is accompanied by two cupids, who seem to grow out of stylized absinthe plants (artemisia absinthium).
