Scumbag Jeanpierre

October 11, 2011

Back in the old days when bistros didn’t have cash machines they used saucers with numbers on it. Those numbers are the prices that people paid for a beverage. If you for example ordered a glass of absinthe for 30 centimes and a coffee for 50 centimes, then the the waiter would serve the beverages with these saucers. And when it was time to pay, you would check your saucers and know what you have to pay.

These particular bistro saucers here were also used to register what people owed, when they consumed on credit. When they later paid, the handwritten note on the backside of the saucer was wiped off.

Not this one though. Jeanpierre drank three glasses but never came back to pay his bill!  🙂
